Colostrum and Helicobacter pylori infection
What is a Helicobacter pylori
Is one of most common bacteria infections of digestive system. Scientists think H.pylori is transmitted orally through faecal matter from contaminated food or water. It is responsible for the wide range of digestive problems and the cause of many gastrointestinal conditions, such as gastric ulcers in stomach and duodenum[first part of the small intestine]. A clean and hygienic environment can help decrease the risk of H.pylori infection.
How can colostrum to defend the body agaist bacteria?
The beneficial components against H.Pylori infection are lactoferrin and lipids; lactoferrin has an beneficial effect due to its anti-bacterial activity. According to researchers “ bLF (bovine lactoferrin) exerts an inhibitory effect on colonizing H. pylori by detaching the bacterium from the gastric epithelium (stomach lining) and by exerting a direct anti-bacterial effect.“ (Wada)
Researchers at the Department of Clinical Pathology, Hospital for sick children showed the benefits of colostrum for ulcers caused by H.pylori. They found, than bovine colostrum can block the binding of helicobacter species by lipids found in bovine colostrum.
Colostrum lipids may prevent H.pylori bacteria from attaching to the lining of stomach and intestinal tract, inhibiting the infection.
Our holvita colostrum can be of benefit to people suffering from digestive problems caused by Helicobacter pylori infection.
