Colostrum and Gastro-intestinal problems
About gastro-intestinal problems
Gastro-intestinal problems effect the digestive tract and are caused by bacteria, viruses, pathogens or by an over active immune system (autoimmune reaction).
What are the symptoms?
People with gastro-intestinal problems suffer with: diarhoea, bleeding, leaky gut, poor nutrient upatke, inflamation of the gut wall, cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, flatulence.
Colostrum can help with these common gastro-intestinal conditions
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Short bowel syndrome
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs)
- Coeliac's Disease - see Autoimmune section
- Leaky gut syndrome
- Candida Albicans (fungal infection of the gut) - see fungal infections section
- Crohn's disease
- Ulcuritive colitis
- Chemo induced mucositis
- Peptic ulcers
Colostrum is effective against gastro-intestinal infections such as:
- Salmonella - see bacterial infections section
- Clostridium - see clostridium difficile section
- Cryptosporidium - see parasitic infections section
- E.Coli
- Food poisoning
How holvita™ colostrum can help with gastro-intestinal problems
A number of recent studies and an increasing number of anicdotal evidence suggest that peptide growth factors in colostrum can offer new treatment options for a number of gastro-intestinal conditions. The components held by colostrum are highly suitable for digestive health. The immunoglobulins fight antigens and support a rebalancing of the gut's micro-flora while the repair factors and the immuno modulatory components can contribute to a reduction in gut inflammation and damage repair. There is also evidence that growth factors have a beneficial effect on NSAID induced small and large intestinal injury. It was also shown to reduce the permeability of the small intestinal tract.
As reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, July 2000, colostrum supplementation may be of particular value in young children.
