Colostrum and Heart disease

About Heart disease

Cholesterol is a chemical and is an important part of the outer lining of body cells. Most cholesterol is produced in the liver and is carried to the cells by special proteins called “lipoproteins”. One of the properties of cholesterol is that it cannot dissolve in blood without the lipoproteins. There are two types of lipoproteins – low density lipoproteins (LDL) and high density lipoprotein (HDL). Dietary cholesterol is mainly found in animal based food such as dairy and meat products. LDL is also known as bad cholesterol because it is associated with the increase of risk of coronary heart disease.

Cause

It is responsible for depositing cholesterol within the artery walls, causing the formation of what is called cholesterol plaque.

What are the symptoms

The build up of this plaque narrows the arteries and causes atherosclerosis. This leads to decreased oxygen supply to the heart muscles or “ischemia” and causes chest pains and in the worst case, complete blockage of the artery, leading to the death of the heart muscle (heart attack). Blood clots can also lead to stroke.

How holvita™ colostrum can help people with heart disease

Colostrum contains important components called lactoferrin and Proline-Rich-Polypeptides (PRPs); lactoferrin is a mutlifunctional protein and has the ability to inhibit the accumulation of oxidised cholesterol. A study showed, that plaque accumulation decreased by more than 80%. It also showed that human lactoferrin was less effective than bovine lactoferrin. The results suggest that lactoferrin in the blood stream may act as a anti-atherogenic agent. (Kajikawa)

Cell and tissue growth factors such as Fibroblast growth factor (FgF) stimulate the growth of new blood vessels.

“Colostrum Proline-Rich-Polypeptide (PRP) may have a role in reversing heart disease very much like with allergic and autoimmune diseases. Altered immunity may be the hidden cause of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. A “New England Journal of Medicine” article indicated that heart disease is partially the result of immune sensitization to cardiac antigens. Therefore, I generally include colostrum in all immune-enhancement and cardiac programs”

Long term use of our holvita™ colostrum can be of benefit in keeping the cardiovascular system healthy.
