holvita™ Colostrum for recovery after exercise
After intensive exercise many athletes suffer from acute muscle pain from lactic acid accumulation within the muscles, muscle damage as a result of the strenuous exercise and fatigue due to excessive energy use. Fast recovery times are therefore important for athletes to enable them to return to training as quickly as possible.
Colostrum is a multi-functional food full of many beneficial components for people doing physical activity. Colostrum contains important cell and repair growth factors which have shown the ability to stimulate protein synthesis and inhibit protein depredation.
The main growth factors involved in cell and tissue regeneration in our holvita™ colostrum are:
- Insulin-like growth factor-I & II (IgF-I & II)
- Epidermal growth factor (EgF)
- Transforming growth factor (TgF)
- Fibroblast growth factors (FgF)
- Platelet-derived growth factor (PDgF)
- Growth Hormone (GH)
Tissue repair and regeneration is the result of the collaboration between all of the main growth factors as well as other beneficial components found in holvita™ colostrum.
IgF-I & II growth factors are the most important growth factors to an athlete, because they are involved in cell proliferation and metabolism, regulation of tissue repair, growth and cell differentiation. IgF-I one is released by many different tissues in the body and affects almost every cell.
The following are associated with IgF-I:
- Increased physical performance
- Increased mental performance
- Increased physical endurance
- Increase in lean muscle tissue growth
- Encourage faster wound healing and repair
- Important component for the repair of cartilage tissue
The other growth factors EgF, PdgF, TgF A & B are also important for the stimulation of cell division and tissue development.
Beth M Ley P.h.D the author of the book Colostrum and Lactoferrin states “Many colostrum users report decreased recovery time and decreased soreness after acute exercise when using colostrum supplement”
